(More customer reviews)I've had this feeder for two years now, and I have to say I LOVE watching the squirrels and larger birds play around it.
One of the best features, I think, it the plastic screen that keeps the food in -- and therefore dry. It raises up just enough for some to come out for the squirrels and birds to pick at is from the perch, and of course they can get some more by reaching under (the squirrels) or sticking their heads under (the birds - mostly blue jays) the screen.
I didn't have this problem last year, but this year some of the squirrels figured out that they could remove the screen by lifting the lid and pulling/pushing the screen up and out. I haven't seen them do it yet, but they did it three times before I decided to try to put an end to it. To that end, every time I fill it I now tie the lid shut by wrapping plastic string around it several times and triple knotting it underneath. So far (for that last two weeks), it's seemed to work.
I've also recently tried putting peanuts in this. The squirrels and birds seem to love this, but they don't eat the peanuts at the feeder -- they carry them off. Possibly to store them for the winter. But as a result I think I may swish back to putting regular feed - or sunflower seeds - in it.

Fly Thru Gazebo Bird Feeder, Green Review

(More customer reviews)THIS FEEDER HAS A MAJOR & DANGEROUS FLAW. I recently purchased the Fly Thru Metal Gazebo Feeder (3400)and there is a dangerous flaw for small birds! Yesterday an Oregon Junco was behaving oddly at that particular feeder and after a few moments I realized his foot was TRAPPED in the feeder. It was trapped where the metal floor of the platform is folded up in order to hold the seeds. The bird struggled and struggled to get free. When it finally did I went out and took the platform down and saw that there was blood, a lot of blood for such a small bird. I have to wonder if the poor thing even lived through the night.
After I took the feeder down I used aquarium sealant to fill all the gaps. And I have also contacted various suppliers of this feeder to let them know that the manufacturer needs to CLOSELY crimp the 6 floor folds.
Duncraft, who also sells this feeder, was very supportive and the president of their company wrote to the manufacturer!

Belle Fleur 50125 Lighthouse Lantern Bird Feeder Review

(More customer reviews)I had tried a cage feeder before where even small birds did not fit through. This Lantern has larger square openings, yet the birds still prefer to perch on the cage and lean in to feed. However they LOVE it and it attracts a wide variety of birds. Keep it free standing on a hook or pole away from trees, or else squirrels will jump on it upside down and eat from the open seed tray bottom. Strong construction yet lightweight.

Bird Brain Rocket Bird Feeder Purple Stripe Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this feeder for a gift after getting the blue striped one for myself. I like the colors of the other a little more but this one is really pretty, too. My in-laws will love it. I got it for considerably less than the $60 being charged now. Perhaps it will be marked down again. It has a purple and chartreuse striping on it and holds a lot of seed. There is a base to catch any seeds falling out. I don't need to fill this one quite as often as my other feeders. Highly recommend.

Le Petit Chalet Newel Post for Bird Houses and Feeders Review

(More customer reviews)If you are going to keep this birdhouse on your deck or patio I might recommend this product, but otherwise it's not really made for in the dirt applications. Actually, come to think of it, the stand is not very sturdy so it will easily tip in the wind even if you did mount it on a deck or patio. So I suppose I would not recommend it at all unless you are keeping it inside for decretive purposes.
I bought this stand to go with my expensive new birdhouse and the holes were not drilled in the right spots (birdhouse holes were 4.5" apart, stand was 5" apart) so I had to improvise. Then I had to wrap it in plastic, dig a hole and bury it in the dirt. Why you ask? Because the whole thing is made of wood which will rot, and there are no mounting spikes or ties that come with it for in the dirt applications - which I imagine has got to be like 90% of their market. I suppose I expected that by looking at the picture, but I chose this anyway because it was good looking with my birdhouse from le petit chalet. That's the reason for not giving it one star.

(More customer reviews)Very decorative hand painted flowers on the glass (flowers even fool the hummers occasionally - I've seen them poke their beaks into the painted flowers). The feeder has a perches where the little guys actually rest while sipping the necter. Don't believe reviews that the hummers don't like it - it is most likely your necter thay don't like. When I put it out the 1st time, I used a packaged necter mix instead of my own 4:1 solution. Only an occasionaly hummer came by. After a week, I went back to my standard mix and now I've got swarms of hummers around. Sometimes as many as 3 feeding at the same time! The size is good because it allows the birds to use most of the filling before the necter goes bad in the sun.

(More customer reviews)When I first saw this feeder, I loved the simplicity of it. And it is my feeling, the birds enjoy simplicist, too. The hummingbirds fight over this feeder. It is easy to clean; even the base comes apart. The bottle part has a wide opening big enough for a bottle brush. The only drawback I see is and reason for 4 stars; with a 32 oz. feeder, seems they could have put more than 3 ports for feeding.

(More customer reviews)Feeding hummingbirds in Southern California means boiling a quart of sugar water every night to keep the feeders full. These feeders are great for the birds, since they allow the birds to perch and rest while feeding. I have had all 8 ports occupied.
It is important to keep the feeders clean, so the hummingbirds do not become ill from bacteria build up. These are the best feeders for easy cleaning.
Also, if a piece accidentally gets broken, replacement parts are easy to order.
Enjoy watching these wonderful birds.

Bird's Choice Single Cake Upside Down Suet Feeder w/ Hanging Cable Review

I've had one of these for six months now, and have done everything under the sun to get birds to come to it. I've pushed suet out the bottom to make it more visible. I've hung a regular suet cage under it. I've got lots of woodpeckers here and other small birds using the suet cage (I go through a suet cake every 4 or 5 days in the summer, about every other day now that it's colder) but the birds just haven't found the suet in the upside-down feeder. Well, one or two have pecked a little at it, but they don't come back, and others don't follow them. When I put those very same suet cakes in the other feeder, there are plenty of birds.
I thought this was a great way to keep the grackles out of the suet (they were eating 2 cakes a day), but it sure didn't get suet to the birds I wanted to give it to. My solution was to use Thistle and Safflower seed in the regular feeders -- grackles don't like either. Then I got a weight-sensitive feeder for the sunflower seed and it closes up when a grackle tries to feed. Since they've stopped coming for the seed, they don't bother the suet either.
